Biba Caggiano Today, on the verge of the new millennium, Biba is totally in charge of her domain, and she is preserving the spirit and excellence of authentic Italian cuisine. She is the chef/owner of BIBA Restaurant in Sacramento California, and the award winning author of six best selling cook books - all of which are in print - and have sold more than a half-million copies. She is under contract to William Morrow for two additional books, one of which will carry the title of her new national series for public television - Biba's Taste of Italy. Biba also hosted the internationally syndicated cooking series Biba's Italian Kitchen seen on The Learning Channel and The Travel Channel, owned by Discovery Communications. BIBA restaurant, which opened in 1986, has received glowing reviews from Gourmet Magazine and Travel and Leisure. The January 1995 issue of Conde' Nast Travelers lists BIBA among the best 200 restaurants in the country. BIBA has been rated The Best countless times - including Sacramento's Best Restaurant by Sacramento Magazine's "Readers Choice Awards" for the past eight consecutive years! The Wine Spectator gave BIBA Restaurant the "Award of Excellence," and BIBA has been a "DIRONA Award" recipient for the past three years. In 1996 Biba Caggiano was chosen as one of six recipients of the prestigious "Robert Mondavi Culinary Award of Excellence." In 1998, then Governor of California Pete Wilson, selected her as Northern California Chef of the Year. Biba has become a recent favorite of CBS This Morning and was featured guest as recently as February 1999.
